Glen (Dane) Edwards, a 90-year-old Hardy area farmer, has been at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida this week representing Nebraska in the Senior Olympics. The games began last Tuesday and Edwards has earned medals in several events.

Edwards was an All-American track and field athlete at Doane College in 1952. He attended Hardy High School in the 1940s.

At the senior games he has competed in the long jump, high jump, pole vault and 100-meter dash. He has been the only athlete from Nebraska in this year’s competition.

This year he has received a third in the high jump, second in the pole vault, third in the long jump, and second in the 50 meter dash.

His vault of 4’7” was the third best in the senior games’ history.
