The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday. Kenny Rempe was an excused absence.

The board approved a contract with Jared Fullerton and Ronald Fryda to serve as Nuckolls County Wildlife specialists to handle nuisance animals. This function was previously handled by the USDA.

John Hodge, county attorney, advised the board the county is participating in the Traffic Safety and Stop Class Diversion programs. These programs allow drivers with certain traffic citations to attend classes and have no points on their record.

Sharon Hueftle presented the annual report for the South Central Economic Development District. Chris Peterson, mayor of Superior, advised the board if the county did not wish to fund their allocation, the City of Superior would, in exchange for Peterson serving as a board member in place of a county commissioner. The board took the matter under advisement.

The board approved a number of special designated liquor licenses.

The board will meet weekly at 8:30 a.m., on Mondays throughout June as 2022-2023 budget proposals are submitted.

There will be no examiner present at the state drivers license office at the courthouse, Tuesday, June 21, because of staff shortages. Those in need of assistance may go on-line at the department’s website or visit an open office in another county. Check the DMV website for availability.
