Jewell Community Center received local grant

 

Last Thursday morning at 10 a.m. the Jewell Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting at LeRoy's Lofts in Jewell. The business is at the southeast corner of the intersection of Washington and Delaware. Formerly the business was called The Scoop. Originally the building was a bank and the old vault is now a storage room. Following brief remarks by Jane Pahls, Chamber of Commerce president, and Darrell Bohnert - mayor, LeRoy Bourbon (owner) cut the ribbon. Shown (from left) are Bohnert, Bob Freeman - Jewell City councilmen and Josh Burks, owner; LeRoy Bourbon, Angela Williams, councilman; Max Burks and Pahls. 

The Jewell City Council met in regular session last Monday. Those in attendance were Darrell Bohnert, mayor; Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Bob Freeman, council members; and Kristie Anderson, city clerk .

Don Jacobs, sheriff, was present and talked about the town activities for the month of May.

Pat Zentz and Marsh Ericson, library board members and staff, discussed the library budget with the council.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was absent but provided a written report for the month of May. He continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.
