The 147th annual Nuckolls County fair is scheduled for early July. 4-H and open class exhibits are to be checked in Thursday, July 7. Friday, July 8, they will be judged.

Saturday, July 9, the 4-H horse show opens at 8 a.m. and generally takes most of the day.

By Sunday afternoon, July 10, all the 4-H and FFA animals should be in place after a morning filled with weigh-ins and ultrasound scans.

Sign up starts at 4:30 p.m. Sunday evening for the “Kids Rodeo.” After an afternoon filled with an ice cream contest and trap shoot, there will be a beef barbecue starting a 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

Hogs will be judged Monday morning, July 11. The sheep show starts at 1 p.m. the same day, followed by the goat show. Monday evening a chicken barbecue will start at 5 p.m. followed by the rodeo.

Tuesday morning, July 12, starts with the beef show followed by the rabbit and poultry shows in the afternoon. The evening features a pork barbecue and professional rodeo.

Don’t wait until Wednesday evening to visit the fair if you want to see the exhibits. Static exhibits are release at noon and the animals exhibits will be released following the awards presentation which starts at 5 p.m.

Pre-fair competition starts Tuesday, July 5 with the companion animal and dog show at 10 a.m. The Clothing construction, style show and performing arts contest starts at 1:30 p.m. the same day with the culinary challenge and favorite foods contest starting at 3 p.m.

Wednesday, July 6, the 4-H archery shoot will be at Hebron.
