Father Hottovy serving three parishes

Priestly assignment for Catholic religious parishes in the Lincoln diocese are made every year. Spring 2022 saw more than 30 assignment made throughout the diocese and this year the changes affected the three Catholic parishes in Northwest Nuckolls County and southern Clay County.

Rev. Corey Harrison was moved to Roseland and will teach at the St. Cecilia Catholic Schools in Hastings.

Rev. Jamie Hottovy is the new resident priest for Sacred Heart parish and St. Stephen parish of Lawrence and the Our Lady of the Assumption parish in Deweese.

Father Jamie Hottovy stands beside a design of the Sacred Heart in the church of that name in Lawrence.

Father Hottovy comes to Lawrence from Lincoln where he was pastor of St. Teresa's parish in that city.

He is a Lincoln native, being born and raised there and is the eldest of his parents' four children, all boys. He was ordained a priest in 1999. Since that time, he has served in Hastings (twice) Lincoln (several times) Prague-Plasi parishes and the Orleans-Alma-Oxford parishes. He has spent about half of his ordained life in rural areas and half in cities.

His post high school education began with two years at UNL in the College of Architecture, two years in pre-theology in Toronto, Canada and four years in theology in New York.

Father Hottovy is also on the Lincoln diocese building commission.

Outside interests include Pilgrimages, both local or area or international pilgrimages.

We join the communities in welcoming him to the area.
