Red Hair . . .

To be specific, “Naturally Redheads” the headline read.

I was perusing the Sunday newspaper yesterday when a headline caught my eye. It read: “Natural redheads may need more anesthesia.”

A person may not guess that from what little hair I have left was at one time . . . red.

However, it was, and I’ve survived many years not knowing for sure if that was a good thing, or a bad thing. And, never read much about the positive, or negative, effects of living with red hair.

The headline caught my attention and several things caught my attention:

No. 1: Less than 2 percent of the world’s population are natural redheads. That makes red the rarest of hair colors.

No. 2: Red Hair results from variants associated with the MCIR gene, which provides the instructions that lead to each person’s individual pigmentation.

No. 3: In recent years studies have been done focused on tolerance to pain with people having the MCIR gene. Some results were contradictory, but coupled with levels of anesthetics to numb the pain of dental procedures, in general terms, naturally redheaded people (especially women) may just need more anesthesia to control pain.

The article didn’t come to any strong conclusion about redheaded people (naturally redheaded people that is) and pain tolerance. It just advised any redheaded person to discuss your hair color with your doctor if you are having surgery or other procedure that might result in pain.

I don’t know what good that little bit of information does me (or you), but I offer it to you free of charge.

I like that story I heard maybe 55 or 60 years ago. It went something like this:

Elderly man (EM) talking to young boy (YB).

EM: Young boy, you are sure a lucky person to have such nice red hair.

YB: Ya, well I sure don’t feel like it, I’m always being teased and made fun of because of my red hair.

EM: Maybe now, but it won’t always be that way. Some day you will be the most patriotic person around.

YB: ya . . . what do you mean?

EM: Well, it seems you may just end up like me. At one time my hair was red . . . just like yours.

Then it turned white.

Then, a strong wind came up and it all blew away.

You see . . . my hair is “red,” “white,” and “blue.”

Don’t you just hate it . . .

when a government official gets contradicted by a governmental agency. I know both Democrats and Republicans sometimes go overboard on facts and figures they want to express.

One of the latest examples involves the Democratic governor of Michigan. Up for re-election, she recently made the claim: “Michigan has added nearly 25,000 auto jobs since I took office.”

However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics data contradict that claim. Whitmer inherited 169,500 auto jobs when she became governor in January 2019, according to the agency. As of May 2022, that number is 166,700—a decrease of nearly 3,000 jobs.

I bring this little example of someone not getting their facts straight to start with to comment on the little larger subject of what the Democrats say was an attempted overthrow of our government on January 6, 2021.

The case the Democrats are making against Donald Trump is interesting, but I’m not yet convinced they are correct.

I’ll listen to their claims, but I’m certainly not about to say they got all the facts correct.

I’m slowly learning to question claims made by any politician, I’m also studying just who are making the claims.

To me, it seems the Democrats are making more liberal and disrupted comments about American life and government than anyone else.

I would submit as examples two things: No. 1: their effort to find a way to discredit Donald Trump in any way for the January 6 riot in Washington D. C. No. 2: The Democrats’ explosive anger at the Supreme Court in its decision on abortion and their comments on how the Supreme Court members who voted to return decisions on abortions to the states be punished in some way.

Kansas Public Notices

I get the impression Democrats reject any attempt to disrupt the election voting process (I can agree with that.) They do not, however, reject efforts to influence Supreme Court judge’s decisions with protests and comments about the judges paying “a price” for their decision on abortion.

One last comment on this July 4th weekend. A time we celebrate the birth of our country and the freedoms we have.

The Voter I D question.

Democrats, in general, see no reason for Voter I D requirements. They claim there has never been widespread voter fraud, so why attempt to fix something that is not broke.

If you believe that, I suggest you read a book on President Harry Truman in which voting fraud took up a chapter or two to discuss.

Just recently, we get another new example.

A reporting service, ‘American Action News’ reported the following over the weekend.

“A Democrat once expelled from Congress for taking bribes has pleaded guilty to rigging the results of five years of elections.

Former U.S. Congressman Michael “Ozzie” Myers, 79, of Philadelphia, Pa., pleaded guilty last week to conspiracy to deprive voters of civil rights, bribery, obstruction of justice, falsification of voting records and conspiring to illegally vote in a federal election for orchestrating schemes to fraudulently stuff the ballot boxes for specific Democratic candidates in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Pennsylvania elections, the U.S. Justice Department announced.

Myers admitted seeking “consulting fees” from numerous local Democrat candidates, then using part of the funds to bribe two election judges to falsify election results in Democrat primaries on behalf of clients and other candidates Myers favored.

Since this is an election year, you are going to hear much on many subjects between now and November.

Be careful on what you believe, or do not believe.

Democracy is a pretty darn good form of government, but it doesn’t work without the average citizen taking part in the process . . . It sometimes involves ugly warts and all.
