Sizzling temperatures for the Firekracker run

And they're off to the races. The 40th annual Firekracker Run in Superior, that is. Runners in the kids one mile run and the adult two mile run start out for the course under ideal weather conditions Monday.

The Superior Independence Day tradition of the Firekracker Run entered its 40th year Monday. Weather conditions were ideal. A clear sky, moderate temperature and a light, cooling breeze made for a perfect setting.

The number of entries for this year's race was down considerably from last year's 347 registrants.

It was an enthusiastic crowd of spectators who gathered to show their support for friends and family members. Entrants from as far away as Minnesota and Virginia entered the fray.

The race was established 40 years ago with a vision from Dr. Timothy Blecha, Elmer Rempe, Fred Meyer...
