Lucille Elizabeth Peters

Lucille Elizabeth (Scheer) Peters, 91, Jewell, died July 3, 2022. Lucille was born on April 18, 1931, to Peter J. and Emma Scheer. She married Nicholas A. Peters on April 22, 1953, and to this union they were blessed with 11 children.

She grew up on the farm in Hunter, Kan., helping with much of the farming and chores. She especially liked riding her horse “Babe” when she was young. She enjoyed quilting and making baby blankets for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked playing the guitar, accordion, a little piano, and singing whenever asked. She especially enjoyed singing with her daughters and grandchildren at nursing homes, fairs and a special place she loved to sing at was the Blue Hill Church in Hunter on Memorial Day. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants along with her chickens and dogs. She cared for them all right up until she walked into God’s glory.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a treasure to her heart. She was loved so dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We find hope in knowing that her “chores were done” and she is now with Jesus! Isn’t that what really matters for all of us? We will see her again when our chores are through. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Peters; brothers, Greg, Minolph, John and Walt; sisters, Della Schaffer and Margaret; daughters-in-law, Beckie Peters, Jennifer Peters; and grandchildren, Peggy Peters and Noah Smith.

She is survived by her children, Daniel (Elaine) Peters, Randall; Joe Peters, Jewell; Judy Peters, Beloit; Jim Peters, Minneapolis; Larry Peters, Lindsborg; Mary Ann (Butch) Eilert, Sabetha; Linda (Robie) Smith, Jewell; Tim (Debra) Peters, Delphos; Rick (Kelly) Peters, Jewell; Sharon (John) Nunneley, Independence; Patty Jo (Bill) Weaver, Aurora; 55 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Joan (Don) Goodeyon.

Visitation was at St. John’s Catholic Church, from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday July 6, with a vigil and rosary service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., today (Thursday)at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Church, School, or Restoration Fund, in care of Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments. Online condolences to schoenfhm.com
