Jail Demolition set to begin next week

Nuckolls County Board

August 4, 2022

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse at Nelson Monday.

The county road department reported they had taken delivery of a new John Deere 772G road maintainer. The road department yard is the site for the tire recycling event Friday. County residents can drop off old tires at no charge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The west and south portions of the courthouse parking lot will be closed to parking from Monday through Friday. The old county jail is scheduled to be demolished. The closure will facilitate the removal of the debris and the bringing in of fill dirt.

The board denied levy requests from the Nelson Rural Fire Department and the Davenport Cemetery District levies. This is a procedural vote to allow the entities to collect a levy.

The board approved a resolution for the repair of the Road P/Q washout and culvert replacement.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15.
