Jewell Co. Voters buck state trend

August 11, 2022

The turnout in Jewell County was strong as it was across Kansas when voters went to the polls to cast their primary election ballots on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

There were two issues of primary concern in Jewell County. One involved the selection of the Republican standard bearer for county commissioner. Two newcomers filed for the office when the incumbent chose to not seek re-election.

Ed Duskie will be advanced to the general election with an unofficial 194 votes over Mike Stauffer who polled 113.

Jewell County voters went against the state trend and approved the constitutional amendment related to abortion with 664 yes votes and 318 no votes. Statewide the amendment was defeated.
