Rebecca Ann Aksamit was born June 9, 1943, at the Fairfield, Neb., hospital to Bill and Rose Aksamit. She grew up on the family farm three miles south of Deweese. She graduated from Nelson High School and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. After graduation she spent her entire adult life teaching at Friend, Neb.; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Bellevue East High School, Bellevue, Neb.; and Iowa Western College in Iowa. She died peacefully July 30, 2022.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ron and Bill Aksamit; and nephew, Scott Haddix. She is survived by her brother, Steve Aksamit and sister, Ginny Haddix; 10 nieces and nephews; and two great- nephews.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday Aug. 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Neb., with an interment ceremony at the Assumption Church cemetery in Deweese, Neb., on Saturday, Aug. 13.
