James E. Haskins

James E. Haskins, 64, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2022 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kan. He was born on May 1, 1958, in Concordia, Kan., to Eugene and Lois June (Young) Haskins.

On Nov. 14, 1987, he married Michelle M. Sanders in Concordia, Kan.

James was a 1976 graduate of Courtland High School, Courtland, Kan. He received a degree in automotive repair from NCKAVTS, Beloit, Kan.

He worked for Bohnert Gas Station, 81 Market, Concordia, the City of Formoso, Republic County Rural Water District No. 1 and later as an auto mechanic from his home.

James hobbies included tinkering with small engines, his hot rod, taking his grandchildren on four-wheeler rides and hanging out in the shop with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle "Shelly" Haskins, Formoso; daughter, Courtney Bobby, Aberdeen, S.D .; son, Corey Haskins (Kristina), Nickerson, Kan .; son, Kyle Haskins, Formoso; five grandchildren: Jacob Bobby, Emma Bobby, Jensen Haskins, Carter Haskins and Kashlynn Haskins; brother, Robert Haskins (Rhonda), Broomfield, Colo .; sister, Connie Butts (Steve), Jewell; sister, Charlotte Seybold (Calvin), Republic; and a host of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Visitation was held from 1 to 8 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 15, at the Melby Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

James selected cremation and a Celebration of Life service was held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Melby Mortuary with Dwight Garman officiating. Burial of the cremains followed at the Balch Cemetery, Formoso.
