Walking School Bus to run on Wednesdays

September 1, 2022

A walking school bus is a group of children (“riders”) walking to school with one or more adults (“drivers”) along a pre-planned route to school. Walking school buses promote a healthy choice of walking, reinforce pedestrian safety, and are a supervised social activity for children.

The Superior walking school bus will run (“walk”) on Wednesdays. Plans are for the walking school bus to run Sept. 21, through Oct.12 (Weather permitting).

The bus will leave, from the City Park band shelter, promptly at 7:30 a.m., in order to arrive at the school between 7:45 and 7:55 a.m.

The bus will travel along the new sidewalk on 8th Street and end at the Superior Elementary School. Children can join the bus at any point along the route, and parents are welcome to walk along. Children must stay behind the bus driver at all times when crossing intersections.

Wheels (bikes, skateboards and scooters) are encouraged on the route; however, there are no “wheels” on the Walking School Bus.

To volunteer as a guest bus driver or adult volunteer, (several will be needed for each Wednesday), please contact Jacki Siebecker at Brodstone Healthcare: (402) 207-1082.
