Kenneth A. "Ken" Meyer, 77, of Moorhead, Minn., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, N.D.

Ken was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Hartington, Neb., the son of Frank and Sarah (Lange) Meyer. He was raised in rural Hartington on a dairy farm with his three brothers and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1962. From 1965 until 1967, Ken served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Virginia. After his discharge, Ken moved to South Sioux City, Neb., and began working for Northern Propane Gas.

On October 25, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Pinkelman in Wynot, Neb. To this union, three children were born: Brenda, Peggy and Steven.  Ken worked for Northern Propane Gas until 1985. Ken and Mary then owned and operated "Snack Break Vending," an "on-your-honor" snack and vending business until 1998. He then went to work for Advanced Heating and AC and Johnstone Supply Company for another 10 years before retiring. Ken enjoyed attending his kids' and grandkids' sporting events and coming to Nebraska to help his daughter, Peggy, and her husband, Andy, farm. He would spend weeks in the spring and fall helping with planting and driving truck during harvest. 


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary; children: Brenda (Brent) Srejma, Fargo, N.D., Peggy (Andy) Meyer, Superior, and Steven (Amy) Meyer, Lake Elmo, Minn .; grandchildren: Roman, Emily, Alex, Leah, Kalynn, Shayla, Ella, Nolan, Joseph, Henry, and Charles; brothers: Ed Meyer and Bill (Pat) Meyer, both of Hartington; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Alice Meyer; niece, Cheryl Meyer; and sister-in-law, Betty Meyer.


Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m., today (Thursday) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to St. Joseph's Catholic School in Moorhead, Minn., or a charity of their choice.

Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, Minn, is in charge of arrangements.
