L-N volleyball falls to Superior

Despite the high intensity rivalry between Lawrence-Nelson and Superior, the Raiders were outmatched Thursday as Superior swept the Raiders in three sets, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-23. Superior has been a regular qualifier for the state C-2 championship while the Raiders toil in Class D-2, playing above their class in a majority of their games. Adding to the weight is an road heavy schedule.

The differences in numbers, experience and size were on full display. The Raiders played at a high energy level but Superior was just too much. The loss left the Raiders with a 3-2 record for the season while Superior remained undefeated, Lawrence-Nelson travel to Friend Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Hanna Skinner led the Raider killers with six. Kara Menke tallied five kills, Sydney Biltoft posted three kills. Claire Himmelberg and Katelyn Mazour added two kills each. Emily Troudt had a kill.

Biltoft and Mazour each scored two aces. Trodut scored with an ace.

Mazour recorded 10 digs for the match. Skinner handled eight digs. Addi McCloskey and Menke popped up six digs apiece. Biltoft contributed five digs. Jessica Sole took care of four digs, Himmelberg finished with three digs. Troudt had two digs.

The Raiders continue to travel as they visit Deshler today (Thursday) A triangular match with Kenesaw and Harvard is set for Tuesday at Kenesaw. The Raiders have just three home matches scheduled this season.
