Cornhole tournament will benefit Superior Volunteer Rescue Squad

September 15, 2022

Superior Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting a fundraising cornhole tournament Friday, at Superior Bowl.  Sign up for teams will begin at 6 p.m., and the tossing will start at 7 p.m. There will be a free will donation meal available to the public starting at 6 p.m. with burgers and hot dogs grilled and donated by Brodstone Healthcare.  Superior Bowl will also be offering a beer garden outside. IDs will be needed to get in. Put a team together and come down and join the fun and help out the Superior Volunteer Rescue Squad. It is hoped this event draws enough people and interest to host it again next year and grow into a yearly event!

With a $40 donation, you can sponsor a team of 2, or with a $100 donation your name will be advertised on a board. Of course, any donation is welcome and greatly appreciated.

The Superior Volunteer Rescue Squad is currently utilizing a 2003 Ford ambulance as its “Mod 1,” or main unit, for emergency calls. The “Mod 2,” or backup unit, is a 1991 Ford ambulance. At more than 30 years old, it is time for SVRS to retire the Mod 2 unit and upgrade the Mod 1 unit. However, ambulance units do not come cheap, nor should they. Pricing ranges anywhere from $275,000 and up to as much as $400,000. It is hoped to apply for a grant to help purchase one, but funding is needed to help with the grant match as no grant is 100 percent for ambulances or equipment.
