Watch as the trucks

October 6, 2022

Country road drivers need to be on the watch as the trucks are rolling and the grain is coming to town. Harvest reports vary from average to poor depending upon where it rained and where it didnʼt. Weʼve heard some farmers report their soybeans are yielding better this year than is their corn. While the grain trucks take a good share of the country roads, one observed noted the trucks hauling the big round bales of hay require even more of the road. While not normally counted as a plus, this yearʼs drought has made for more dust on the county roads with the benefit that approaching vehicles are easier to spot but the dust clouds following the vehicles can obscure the road much like the whiteouts associated with snow storms.
