Commissioners approve purchasing 2022 ambulance

The Jewell County Commissioners met October 3. Commissioners Steve Greene, Brent Beck and Keith Roe and Carla J. Waugh, county clerk, were present.

Rex Boley, USD 107 superintendent, reported on building improvements. He said the district hired a part-time nurse. Mr. Boley also discussed changing the location of the entrance at the high school.

Shannon Meier, ambulance director, provided a billing report and activity report for the month of September. He discussed Medicare and Medicaid payments. He had a quote to purchase an ambulance that has been a demonstration model. The commissioners approved to purchase the 2022 Ford E450 Ambulance in the amount of $192,058.00 from Foster Coach Sales Inc.

Cindy Becker, health department administrator, discussed items purchased with grant funds. She also discussed getting a quote for an awning on the south entrance of the health department building and upcoming meetings.


Kurtis Geisler, Gavel Roads Online Auction Service, provided details of their services.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, reported the new reclaimer was delivered. He said Rob Partridge resigned effective Oct. 7. The commissioners discussed road concerns.

Brenda Eakins, county treasurer, said a resolution needs to be adopted before the county can move forward with a tax sale.
