Christine McCauley

Christine (Chris) Marie McCauley, was born May 20, 1958, to Harold and Jennie (Hoffman) McCauley. She died Oct. 30, 2022, at Kearney. 

Chris was born at the rural family home north of Edgar at a time when doctors made house calls. She grew up on a farm in the Edgar-Clay Center area. Chris received her education from the Clay Center public schools, graduating with the Class of 1976. She continued her formal education at Kearney State College graduating with a bachelor of science degree in May 1980. During the summers, Chris worked for Clay Center Parks and Recreation as an assistant summer coordinator coaching softball and taking care of the concession stand.

She enjoyed working with children and their families. For most of her career, Chris worked as a social worker for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. She also worked for two other agencies providing foster care services and teaching parenting skills.

Chris enjoyed being outside, taking care of the lawn, planting flowers and gardening. She was an avid Nebraska Husker football and volleyball fan. As well as, a loyal fan of the Kearney Catholic Stars football team. Chris treasured phone calls and visits with family, especially trips to Colorado.

Surviving is her sister.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Jennie McCauley; sister, Viv McCauley; and brother, Duane McCauley.

Her funeral was Monday at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar with the Rev. Hayes officiating. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
