Marilyn June Williams, 97, the daughter of Joseph Merrill and Leone Harriett (Heikes) Munsinger, was born July 10, 1925, at Tabor, Iowa. She died Nov. 14, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior.

She received her formal education attending rural schools in Fremont County, Iowa and graduated from the Tabor High School with the Class of 1943, with a certificate in normal training.

She was united in marriage with Dayre Marion Williams, her high school sweetheart, on June 28, 1944, at the Tabor Congregational Church. While her husband was serving during World War II with the US Army Air Corps, she taught in a one-room rural school. At war’s end in 1946, Marilyn and Dayre lived at Indianola, Iowa, and then Los Angeles, Calif., while he completed college. They moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa for a brief period and in 1953, moved to Clarinda, Iowa. In November of 1968, the family moved to Superior to make their home. Marilyn was employed for a number of years with the Superior school district as a teacher’s aide and enjoyed her years in the classroom with the teachers and students.

Marilyn pursued a number of interests and activities throughout her life. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was an accomplished bridge player and shared her knowledge teaching bridge classes for many years. In their leisure time both she and her husband, Dayre, enjoyed boating and camping at Lovewell Lake. For many years they enjoyed attending Husker football games with close friends, Ray and Barb Norris. They also spent many hours at the Superior Country Club playing “at” golf. Marilyn was an exceptional cook and baker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dayre, on January 4, 1985; daughter, Candace Klaasmeyer on March 3, 2021; a grandson, Matthew Klaasmeyer; sisters, Doris Carlson and Beth Closson; and brothers, Joe Munsinger, Luther Munsinger and Warren Munsinger.

Survivors include her sons, Dayre and David; son-in-law, Al Klaasmeyer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held at 4 p.m., Saturday, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior with the Rev. Ethan Feistner officiating.
