L-N basketball teams set to open season

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys and girls basketball teams open their 2022-2023 season against Red Cloud, at Red Cloud, Friday, The teams are on the road Saturday as they travel to Hebron for contests with Thayer Central.

The boys team, coached by Decker Brown, is looking to improve on last season's 12-12 record. Brown is assisted by Ramsey Hunt and Preston Hild.

The team roster consists of senior class members Devyn Zikmund, Toby Kotinek. Krayton Kucera, Tyson Kotinek, Will Dougherty, Keaton Mazour and Erik Wheeland. Junior class members are Bayln Bargen, Connor Janda, Nolan Ostdiek and Clay Williams. Sophomore class representatives are Carter Griffis, Carson Vaughn, Riley Cannaday, Hayden Mazour. Aidan Zikmund, Wyatt Baker and Sawyer Cox. The freshmen player is Caden Culbertson.The Raiders are playing in Class D-1 this season.

The girls are coached by Andy Peterson, The team compiled a 5-17 record for the previous season.

Senior team members are Emily Troudt and Katelyn mazour. Junior class members are Jessica Sole and Danyelle Church. The sophomore class members are Addi McCloskey, Cassidy Huston, Hanna Skinner, Madalyn kennedy, Josie Hajny, Emily Jacobitz and Kara Menke.

The girls play in Class D-2.
