Doris Arlene Winkel Slate-Greene was born on March 10, 1933, in Glen Elder, Kansas, to Lawrence and Irene Hummel Winkel. She died on Jan. 3, 2023, at the age of 89.

Doris was married to Vivian (Babe) Slate on July 7, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1992, after more than 40 years together. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. On Dec. 16, 2002, Doris was united in marriage to Norman Greene. They enjoyed 20 years of marriage.
