Merelyn "Mac" McCracken, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 84. He was one of 10 children born to Ilo and Emma McCracken in Jewell, Kansas. His birth date was Feb. 13, 1938. The McCracken family settled northern Kansas as pioneers in 1870. Mac, an Army veteran, traveled the world settling in the Midwest where he excelled in professions such as truck driving and construction work. His true passion was being a long-haul truck driver.  

Mac is survived by his brother, Jim; his daughter, Marce Mossberg, and son, Mike; grandchildren include John and Steve Mossberg.

Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m., Jan. 8, at Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell.

His funeral was held at the Jewell Christian Church, Jewell at 11 a.m. on Jan 9, with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating.

Kleppinger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
