The lack of consistency continues to hold back the Superior High School boys basketball team.

The Wildcats hosted the Heartland Huskies at the Superior gymnasium last Tuesday. Superior held a 21-16 lead at the halfway mark. By the end of the third quarter the Wildcats were staring at a 37-26 deficit. They were unable to dig their way out and were handed their 11th loss of the season.

Sandy Creek sprinted out to an 18-9 first quarter lead at Superior Saturday. The Wildcats trailed 28-20 at the half. Any hopes of a comeback were dashed in the third period when Sandy Creek put 13 points on the board while Superior added two points. Sandy Creek coasted to a 58-36 win.

Monday was another long night as the Hastings St. Cecilia Bluehawks shredded the Wildcats 53-18 at Superior. It was no contest from the opening tip. The Wildcats scored one point in the first quarter. The third quarter saw Superior held scoreless. Grassman scored six points. Butler added three points. Clark and Tate Streit accounted for the other five Wildcat points.

Superior saw its record drop to 1-13 for the season.

Jacob Meyer led the Wildcats scoring against Heartland with 13 points. Tanner Theis kicked in 10 points. Colten Butler and Ashton Grassman added seven points apiece. Roscoe Baumbach scored three points. Meyer nabbed eight rebounds. Baumbach, Butler and Grassman accounted for six rebounds each. Dayne Clark and Theis provided four rebounds each. Luke Jameson had a rebound.

Meyer netted 14 points against Sandy Creek. Grassman tallied 11 points. Butler. Clark and Theis accounted for three points each. Grassman caught up with seven rebounds. Baumbach snatched away six rebounds. Clark landed five rebounds. Theis came away with four rebounds. Meyer snagged three rebounds. Butler had two rebounds.

Superior visits Doniphan, Friday for a game with the undefeated Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals. The team travels to Deshler Tuesday for a contest with the Dragons.
