February 2, 2023

Nothing comes easy for the Lawrence-Nelson High School girls basketball team. Despite playing in Class D-2, they only compete against six D-2 schools. The remaining 12 games are against D-1 and higher.

The Raiders played D-1 Blue Hill, with a winning record, as close as you can, last Tuesday, before being edged out 44-42 at Nelson. They fell to 11-5 D-1 Silver Lake 37-27, Friday, at Nelson.

Kara Menke drives the ball up court for Lawrence-Nelson during Friday's game against Diller-Odell at Nelson.

The Raiders opened Twin Valley Conference Tournament play, Tuesday, as the number six seed. They faced off against Silver Lake (again), at Deshler, with game results unavailable at press time.

Kara Menke led the Raiders scoring against Blue Hill with 18 points. Emily Troudt took credit for nine points. Katelyn Mazour tossed through eight points. Sydney Biltoft kicked in five points. Addi McCloskey score two points. Troudt hauled away eight rebounds. Hanna Skinner manufactured five rebounds. Mazour and Menke provided four rebounds each. Biltoft had a rebound.

Statistics for the Silver Lake game were unavailable at press time.

When and where the Raiders will play is dependent on the outcome of Tuesday's game. Check the school website for updated information.
