Marjorie L. Mooberry, 95, died Friday, at Brookestone Village in Omaha. Marjorie was the first child of Harold and Pauline Nuckolls of Fairbury. She was preceded in death by Dale Mooberry, husband of nearly 69 years; and her brother, William C. Nuckolls.

Marjorie was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, school teacher, animal lover, accomplished artist, talented musician (church choir conductor, piano and flute instructor), and later in life, a businesswoman. She was an active life-long member of the United Methodist Church of Fairbury. Marjorie Mooberry had many interests later in her life; most notably, she was a prolific novel reader, a busy grandmother and always a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Creighton Basketball. Marjorie was a proud alumni of Doane College earning her bachelor’s degree in 1949, and also proud of being a 75 year member of PEO and the DAR.

After graduating from Fairbury High School in 1945, Marjorie attended Doane College in Crete, where she met her future husband, Dale Mooberry, who had just returned home from WWII. They married in 1948, got their degrees, then started out together living and working in Deshler. In 1957, they moved to Superior, where Marjorie taught high school English, speech and Spanish for a few years while raising two children. She later turned her attention to working at a popular downtown Superior knitting and needlepoint business called “The Nook.” During this time, Dale taught history, coached and later became Superior’s superintendent of schools. After retirement in1979, they moved to Marjorie’s hometown of Fairbury where she owned and operated a women’s clothing store “Ideal Fashions.”

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Debra Bodzek, and son, Mark Mooberry, both of Omaha. Additional family members include sister-in-law, Wynn Nuckolls of Lincoln, son-in-law, Tom Bodzek, and daughter-in-law, Joy Mooberry. Marj leaves behind six grandchildren: Erica, Audra, Amanda, Mark, Rachael, and Nicole as well as nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Kuncl Funeral Homes, Crete, will handle final arrangements.
