Bingocize coming to Superior's Vestey Center

February 23, 2023

Over the years area residents have had the opportunity to avail themselves of various exercise activities including things like square dancing, clogging, yoga, karate, taekwando, tai chi and jazzercise in addition to the less colorful activities like swimming, bike riding, roller skating, walking and jogging.

Now a new activity is coming. Midland Area on Aging is bringing bingocize to Superior’s Vestey Center. Classes will be held weekly on Monday and Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. The first class will meet Thursday, March 16.

There will be no charge to attend but space is limited and registration is required,

Bingocize is a 10-week health promotion program that combines the game of bingo with fall prevention exercise.

Bingocize was created by Jason Crandall, the co-director of the Western Kentucky University Center for Applied Science in Health and Aging. It is a socially engaging group-based program that combines exercise, health education and the popular game of bingo.

Each session includes a series of exercises to improve strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. Some are done while sitting, others while standing. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace. Sitting versions of some of the exercises are available for those who have trouble standing.

For more information, see the advertisement published in this issue. To register, contact Brenda Combs at the Midland Area on Aging’s Nuckolls County Senior Citizens Office located in the Vestey Center.
