L-N Raiders track to send one to state

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the District D-6 meet hosted by Sandy Creek High School last Wednesday.

The first two finishers in individual events qualify for the state meet as well as the first place relay team. There are also automatic qualifying criteria.

The Raiders will be sending one competitor to Omaha. Sydney Biltoft qualified for state meet with her two first place finishes. She won the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Her time in the 100 meters was 16.55 seconds while her time for the 300 meters was 51.34 seconds.

Jessica Sole competed in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs.

The boys team did not have any state qualifiers.

Erik Wheeland competed in the 100 meter dash.

Devyn Zikmund was in seventh place in the 200 meter finals with his time of 24.3 seconds. Tyson Kotinek and Sawyer Cox ran preliminary heats.


D. Zikmund finished third in the 400 meter dash with his time of 54.58 seconds. Aidan Zikmund and Coy Funk also competed.

Nolan Ostdiek was in fifth place in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:12.09.

Carter Griffis held down sixth place in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 17.37 seconds.

Griffis finished in eighth place in the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 47.14 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of D. Zikmund, Ostdiek, Kotinek and A. Zikmund were in third place with their time of 3:45.73.

Cox was eighth in the shot put with his toss of 37’3.5”. Rocky Miller and Nathan Pofahl also competed. Cox was fourth in the discus with his throw of 124’11”. Wheeland was sixth with his throw of 121’10”. Miller also took part.


D. Zikmund was in fifth place in the long jump with his distance of 18’3”. Funk and Kotinek also participated in the long jump.

Kotinek was in fifth place in the triple jump with a combined distance of 37’8”.

Biltoft heads to Omaha Burke Stadium for the state meet. She will run the 100 meter hurdles at 2:25 p.m. The 300 meter hurdles go off at 5:40 p.m.
