The Superior High School boys golf team competed at the Thayer Central Invitational last Wednesday. The match was played over the Hebron Country Club. The match was an 18-hole affair.

Teams from Thayer Central, Blue Hill, Deshler, Fairbury, Fillmore Central, Friend, Heartland, Lawrence-Nelson, Southern, Sandy Creek and Sutton competed at the match. Sandy Creek had the low team score at 321.

Superior posted a score of 390. The four lowest scores make up the team score.

Colten Butler led the Wildcats with his round of 81. Carsyn Koenig carded a round of 95. Ashton Grassman listed a round of 100. Ayron Grassman had a round of 114. Owen Perrie was in with a round of 120.

Butler tied for eighth place in the individual standings.

Superior looked to qualify for a berth at the state championship when they took to the Indianhead Golf Course, Grand Island, Tuesday. Match results were unavailable at press time. Should the team not qualify, individual players may do so if they finish high in the individual scores.


The state tournament will be played Tuesday and Wednesday. The Class C championship is to be played over the Elks Country Club Course at Columbus.
