Swimming season is almost here. It appears the Superior Municipal Pool will miss the traditional Memorial Day opening but not by much. Earlier this week the pool was being filled in anticipation of opening on Tuesday which is May 30.

It isn’t that the opening date for the pool has changed, It is the fact that the Memorial Day date has changed. For many years Memorial Day was observed on May 30 and May 30 was pool opening day. But now Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday in May.

This year the pool will offer lap swimming from 12 to 1 and 5 to 6:30 p,m. Water aerobics will be offered every Monday in June and July from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Both private and public swimming lessons will be available. The public lessons are scheduled for June 19 to 30 and July 17 to 28.

Parent and child lessons will be offered from 6 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in June and July.

The Nelson swimming pool is opening Saturday.
