SHS takes fifth fifth place at state meet

 

Ella Gardner claimed 30 of the 36 points earned by the Superior High School girls in Class C competition at the Nebraska State Track meet this week. Gardner placed first in the long jump, third in the triple jump, second in the 200 meter dash and third in the 100 meter dash. The four girls who competed for Superior: Gardner, Sadie Remple, Madison Heusinkvelt and Atlee Kobza brought home a fifth place finish.

The Superior High School track team finished in fifth place, in the field of more than 50 schools, at the state championship meet at Omaha's Burke Stadium Friday and Saturday. The top scoring team, Bishop Neumann, with 43 points, had 17 state qualifiers. Superior qualified four teammemebers for the state meet.

It was the last time Ella Gardner would compete at the state event. She closed out her illustrious track and field career with style.

Gardner had a busy schedule for the two-day event.
