The Lawrence-Nelson Elementary Veterans' Day Program took place at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in the elementary gym. The program began with the posting of the colors by the Lawrence American Legion followed by the pledge of allegiance. Kindergarten through fifth grade students sang "The Star Spangled Banner" followed by "America" and "Thank You Military." The singing portion of the program concluded with "A Patriotic Salute" including the armed forces songs. Veterans were encouraged to stand when they heard their song and the audience honored them with their applause.
