The Mankato Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting took place last Wednesday at the Buffalo Roam.

The Highway 36 Treasure Hunt will take place today through Sunday. The chamber will once again hold the Garage Sale Mall at the city building. So far three booths have been rented for the event. The chamber set up the booths at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Goodwill trailer will be at the city office through Tuesday (or until full) for any extra items left over from the garage sales.

The chamber is working on planning the Downtown Trick-of-Treat and Pumpkin Carving Contest. Because of COVID-19, the event will be different this year. All downtown businesses are encouraged to participate as well as any others who wish to Trunk-or-Treat. The chamber, along with the health department, is asking businesses to take all necessary precautions such as: only handing out prepackaged candy, business owners are to hand out the candy instead of letting the child pick their own piece and stand outside the business if possible.

Haley Nelson talked about the possibility of the chamber taking over the Community Birthday Calendar. An organization hasn’t done this project in a few years. It’s something the community has enjoyed in the past. It could serve as a fundraiser this year instead of the Mother’s Day Luncheon which was cancelled. The chamber decided to table discussion about this project until the October meeting so Haley could look up more information regarding the printing of the calendars.

The next meeting will take place Oct. 14 at Bob’s of Mankato.
