Early Voting starts in Nuckolls County

October 15, 2020

“Early Voting” is not all you hear about in the national news reporting, but it takes up a large amount of the time in any report. The extent of it is something new for many people living in rural Nebraska.

However, it is taking place and the Nuckolls County Clerk, Carrie Miller, has given us a little information.

650 Early Voting ballots were mailed out to start with and 35 more requests came in later. As of last weekend 685 ballots have been mailed out.

145 of those ballots have been returned as of last weekend.

Six people have voted “early” in person.

1,155 early ballots were mailed out in the 2020 primary elections and 1,019 were returned.

In the general election of 2016 a total of 233 absentee ballots were requested.

She added the following deadlines for this year:

Friday, Oct. 16, is postmark deadline for mail in voter registration.

Friday, Oct. 23, the clerk’s office will be open until 6 p.m. for in-person voter registration deadline as well as the last day the office can accept absentee ballot application.

Everyone visiting the clerk’s office is required to wear a mask.
