Don A. Nickersonwas born Dec. 3, 1943, in Belleville, to Donald O. and Lorene A. (Macy) Nickerson.

After graduating high school in 1961, Don joined the U. S. Navy. During his 20 year career, Don served as a combat medic in Vietnam and ended as a chief petty officer in hospital administration before retiring in 1981.

Don returned to Kansas to be near family, retiring as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

On Jan. 3, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary E. “Betty” Desroches.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Charlotte Currie.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary (Betty) Nickerson of Scandia; daughter, Kim Hunsinger of Lawrence, Kan.; and one brother, Duane Nickerson of Omaha.

Cremation was selected and a family graveside service will be held at the Belleville Cemetery.
