Brooke Martin Mohler will be opening her consignment boutique, 'Buttons and Bows', in Superior by mid-July. The store will be housed in the former Emporium and Nifty Thrifty building on Central Avenue.

Mohler is a 2013 Superior High School graduate. She is the daughter of Steve Martin. She and her husband, Spencer, have four children: Bucklynn, six, Charlsie, five, Gunner, three, and Gator, one. Spencer is a Rock Hills High School graduate. The family resides in Randall.

Brooke was surprised when this reporter advised her that "Buttons and Bows' was an Academy Award winner for best song. It was featured in the 1947 Jane Russell and Bob Hope film "Paleface." The Dianah Shore recording of the song stayed on the Billboard charts for 24 weeks in 1948, reching number one. Four other artists recorded versions that charted on Billboard in 1948 and 1949. It was also recorded by many other musical artists.

Brooke chose the store name to reflect the items she will sell. She is specializing in children's clothing. Hence buttons for boys and bows for girls.

The idea for the store beagn with a twice yearly consignment sale she organized at the former Mankato armory. The events lasted three-days and were a resounding success. She was able to squeeze in the spring sale in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic closed down area activities.

She explored opening her store in Concordia. The opportunity in Superior appeared and she made the decsion to open her shop in her home town..

She and her husband have been refurbisihing the building in preparation for the opening. New paint has been applied inside and out.

She will specialize primarily in children's clothing articles and shoes. The size and age range will be from infant to teen. She will also take on supplies such as breast pumps and car seats. Cribs, Pack and Plays are also items she is looking to offer.

She would like to offer seasonal costumes.

Brooke will take items on consignment, accept donations or purchase items.

She says the store will fullfill a need as children outgrow their clothing at such as rapid pace.

When you visit the store, be sure you hum or whistle 'Buttons and Bows,' just because you can.
