Missing dog recovered in Superior

While humans enjoy the loud and brilliant fireworks shows, their best friends, the dogs, do not.

For several days a missing dog was a topic of discussion for dog lovers throughout the town. Vaughn Bargen and Carla Ost said their nearly one-year-old Shih Poo named Sophie, had escaped an enclosed yard and was missing.

In the days that followed, there were reports of the dog being seen all about town. While attempts to capture the dog failed, dog lovers throughout the community put out food and water with the hopes the dog would find their offerings. Regular reports of the sightings were posted on Facebook.

With the hope the dog would recognize their pickup and camper, the vehicles were left in a friend’s yard near where the animal had earlier been seen. A pickup door had been left open. Carla was in the camper about 11:30 p.m. Monday when the dog jumped into the pickup.

What could have been a sad story ended on a happy note.
