Love my crazy life

First and foremost, I have a mistake I need to correct. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about the Fourth of July events in Oak and made a mistake. I said the pastor’s name was Keith, it is not. It is Kevin Bogus, and I know this. I often make that mistake. I am sorry, Kevin, and I hope that my embarrassment and acknowledgment of this mistake keeps me from making it again.

Another boneheaded thing I did this week was trying to save a kitten along the highway. As I drove home from the money pit Saturday, I noticed a cute little black and white kitten on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse along Highway 14. So I parked on the side street and walked down to the little kitty that had been hurt and was in much distress. The kitten was backing away, hissing and wanted nothing to do with me. So what do I do? I picked it up, of course! That little demon cat locked onto my thumb with razor blade teeth and the jaw strength of a crocodile. It took all my strength to hold that kitten and not hurt it further while I attempted to free my finger. I got my finger free and held the little demon by the nape of the neck at an arm’s length away from myself as I took it back to its mama. I set it down gently in the yard and quickly got away from it. Thank God it went straight to its mom and not after me!

I refrained from bursting into tears as I drove the two blocks home. My thumb was throbbing, swollen and bleeding. I had holes on the bottom of my thumb, a deep scratch on the side, and the little demon bit clean through my fingernail. I got it cleaned and bandaged and did my very best not to hate the cute little kitten. Thankfully my efforts were not in vain. The kitten that I will forever refer to the kitten as “Demon Cat” is healing from its wounds, and so am I. I’d like to say that I will not be saving any more critters from demise, but that is unlikely. X’s & O’s
