Myron Peters

Myron Henry Peters, age 85, was born Aug. 14, 1936, at the farm near Byron, Neb., to Henry and Edna Peters. God called Myron to his eternal resting place with Him on Saturday, Sept. 25, while at the home he was born in. Myron was baptized into Christ Jesus on Aug. 30, 1936, by Pastor L. C. Lentz at St. John's Lutheran Church near Byron. He confirmed his faith on March 18, 1951, by the Rev. Karl Graff. His confirmation verse was II Corinthians 12:9.

Myron attended rural country school near Byron through eighth grade and graduated from Byron High School in 1954. On Aug. 25, 1963, he was united in marriage to Fairy Higel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning by Pastor John Hieronymous. To this union, two sons, Matthew and Evan, were born. One of Myron's favorite stories was hand building a wood boat in the haymow of the barn. On their first date, he took Fairy to see the boat.

Myron began farming and raising livestock while in high school and continued until his retirement five years ago. During his many years of farming, the only new tractor he purchased was a 1957 Oliver Super 77. He also had many years of custom baling. Myron and Fairy enjoyed round and square dancing during their 58 years of marriage. He was active in his church and community, serving on the church council and Byron's school board.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Harlan and Leila Higel; son, Matthew; brother and sister-in-law, Ludwig and Norma Peters; brother-in-law, LaVern Kniep; sister-in-law, Phyllis Higel; nephew, Wayne Peters; and niece, Kathy Peters.

He is survived by wife, Fairy; son, Evan (Karen) Peters; grandchildren, Emma, Zach, and Klare Peters; sister, Marcella Kniep; brother and sister-in-law, Gordan and Joan Peters; brothers-in-law, Steven (Becky) Higel, James (Cheryl) Higel, and David (Dennette) Higel; sister-in-law, Susan (Neil) Meyer; and many family members and a host of friends.

Myron's body was laid to rest at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, there to await the resurrection.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. Visitation was from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at Ahrendts Funeral Home in Deshler. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery in Byron.
