Richard H.W. Degner, 95, of Hebron, the son of Richard H. and Wilhemina (Rosenkoetter) Degner was born June 2, 1926 in Hebron. He died Thursday, Oct. 21, at Mary Lanning Health Care in Hasting.

Richard grew up on a farm by Friedensau, attending school and graduating from Deshler High School with the Class of 1944.

He was inducted in the United States Army March 22, 1945, during WWII.

He was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1945.

After returning from the service, he was employed by the Soil Conservation Service and helped plant Nebraska National Forest in Halsey. Then he returned to the far...
