November 25, 2021

Opal Maxine Crouch, 91, was born on Nov. 14, 1929, in Lamar, Colo. She died Aug. 21, 2021, at the Belleville Healthcare Center.

Opal grew up on a farm near Scottsville, Kan. Following her high school graduation, she met and married Raymond Crouch on July 26, 1947. Opal was a homemaker and a waitress at the Buffalo Roam in Mankato for many years. She also completed schooling and training to become the social worker and activities director at Heartland Care Center in Belleville.

She enjoyed life; some of her favorite things to do were reading, dancing, going for fast boat rides, playing pitch, watching TV and watching Kansas University basketball games.

Opal joined many loved ones in heaven; her beloved, husband, Raymond Crouch; parents, Lawrence and Myrtle Stickler; grandmother, Pearl Coleman; grandson, Ethan Johnson; great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Fuller; brothers-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Rugg and Roger Zeigler; and many other family and friends.

Survivors are her three daughters: LaQuita Whitesell and her husband, Carl; Vicky Adams and her partner, Les; and Lisa Johnson and her husband, Daren; ten grandchildren: Brandon Fuller (Kim), Trevor Fuller, Shilo Nichols (Darrin), Tara Villapando, Heather Haley (Steve), Kelly Varnadore (Nathan), Rachelle, Jon, Ashleigh Thomas (Jon), Cole Thomas and Sheridan Johnson; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; as Opal often said, there are too many to count!

She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Rugg; sisters-in-law Linda Zeigler and Betty May, special friend - adopted daughter, Caren; and many nieces and nephews.

The memories of time spent with her will always be with us.

Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville. Visitation with family greeting friends will be two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Memorials are requested to the Opal Crouch Memorial, to be designated at a later date, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
