Joyce Easton

Joyce Ann Easton, 88, was born on June 22, 1933, in Fairbury, to Gaylend and Anna (Weichel) Lightbody. She died Dec. 10.

She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1951. While in school, she was a member of Glee Club, Tri-Y, and a drummer in the high school band.

She married William “Bill” Easton on May 1, 1954 in Fairbury. To this union of 67 years, two boys were born, Clark and Kirk.

Joyce worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life for several area businesses including City Investment, Farm Bureau, Thayer County Courthouse, Byron Chemical, Peake’s Transportation, Reinke’s, and Foote’s Service Station. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Thayer County Fair Board, Thayer County Feeders, and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed bowling and at one time served as the secretary for the Nebraska Bowling Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Don Lightbody.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Clark Easton of Hebron, son, Kirk Easton of Chester; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday), at the Price Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, with Pastor Brian Faust officiating. Burial will be at the Hebron City Cemetery immediately following the service.
