Lady Raiders hit 'brick wall', lose to Shelton 22-55

December 30, 2021

One of the better teams in the area, Shelton (7-0) came to visit L-N last week and went home with a strong victory, 55-22, over the Lady Raiders.

Shelton jumped out to a good start, 8-0, before Emma Epley was able to steal the ball and drive the length of the floor to score in the middle of the first period. Sydney Biltoft replicated the steal and layup mid-way through the second period and that was about the scoring record for L-N in the first half until just before the half when Sydney Biltoft and Elsa Jorgensen combined for a quick six points.

Basketball was to be a "Non-Contact" sport and compared to football it is. However, often players do get together. Above, Emily Troudt and a Shelton player seem to be doing a dance step in last week's game with Shelton. Photo courtesy of Denise Mazour.

The ball just didn't want to fall through the hoop for L-N as they made only 16 percent of their field goals while Shelton made about 33 percent of their shots. Shelton made eight, 3-pt. shots but L-N could not get one to fall.

Sydney led the Lady Raiders in scoring with eight while Elsa and Emma each had six. Aleah scored the other two Raider points.
