Arlyce Cox

Arlyce Lynn Cox, the son of John and Vella (Melvin) Bauman, was born on Dec. 24, 1937, in Superior, Neb. He died Dec. 29, at the Salina Regional Health Center at Salina, Kansas at the age of 84 years and 5 days.

Arlyce attended school in Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School with the Class of 1955. He enlisted with the United States Armed Forces on Sept.19, 1956, and was honorably discharged July 17,1959. He retired from Ideal Cement Plant in Superior. He was married to Diane Rogers on Jan. 8, 1982, at the First Presbyterian Church in Superior by the Rev. Lynn Davis.

Arlyce was a member of the American Legion, Superior Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of the NRA.

He enjoyed woodworking, summer camping and riding his motorcycle in his younger days. He was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vella; son, Rick; and his in-laws, Don and Eva Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Diane of Belleville; daughter, Pam Nielsen (Jim Fenimore) of Superior; and sons Terry (Melissa) Cox of Lawrence; David (Lori) Cox of Belleville; and Don Cox of Denton, Fla .; 10 grandchildren: Melissa, Samantha, Jacquelyn, Jordan, Bailey, Nicholas, Matthew, Brian, Christina, Derrick; five great-grandchildren: Morrigan, Asher, Kaitlyn, Liam and Avery; brothers Marlin (Donna) Cox of Nelson and Randy (Terry) Bauman of Parma, Ohio; special niece, Amy; great-nieces, Kassidee and Kaycee; great-nephew Conner; other relatives and a host of friends.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, with Pastor Ethan Feistner officiating.

Music was "Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers were David Cox, Matt Cox, Nick Cox, Jordan Cox, John Rogers and Keith Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Anderson, Terry Cox, Melissa Nielsen, Samantha Nielsen, Jacquelyn Nielsen and Bailey Cox.

Interment with military honors was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
