Fires Damage truck, farmer building

With red flag warnings posted on Tuesday by the National Weather Service telling of an elevated potential for hard to control fires, members of this area’s fire departments kept their fingers crossed throughout the day hoping they would not be called out.

For the Lawrence department, the day began with a call about 7:30 that morning.

The 911 dispatch center reported a quonset was fire Cliff Mazour farm. The department rolled all of its vehicles and within a half hour or so had the fire under control to the point equipment was being sent back to Lawrence.
