2022 National Archery Tournament

In March students competed in Lincoln at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament. This also included a new event for students to complete, IBO (International Bowhunting Organization) 3D Challenge, Lawrence-Nelson took a team of six from elementary, middle and high school. The Lawrence-Nelson Archers are honored to be on the road once again to the National Archery Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. These four students are fundraising to get the opportunity to compete on a national level in Kentucky.

Nathan Pofahl is an eighth grader and has been shooting in NASP school archery for five years and 4-H Archery for six years. He likes to compete in both. Nathan has qualified for nationals in Kentucky again this year just like he did three years ago. This year he got second place in IBO/NASP 3D and he was part of the middle school 3D team placing second in the state. He is excited for another opportunity to shoot in nationals.

Devin Pofahl, a fourth grader is following his brother Nathan’s footsteps for the love of archery. This is Devin’s first year in NASP, but has been shooting 4-H Archery for three years now. This year for NASP he qualified for the IBO/NASP 3 D Challenge and was also on the elementary team receiving a championship trophy. Devin is excited as well for his first year of going to nationals in Kentucky.

Avery Ostdiek, a fifth grader has been shooting in the NASP and 4-H programs for two years. As a fourth grader Avery placed second in elementary state girls for the virtual NASP shoot and first out of all fourth grader girls in Nebraska. This year she was able to compete in the NASP tournament and IBO 3D Challenge with the elementary team. Avery is the 2022 champion for the IBO/NASP 3D Challenge and placed sixth in the Targets putting her in the top ten to compete at nationals in both events. Avery is more than excited to have this opportunity to shoot at nationals.

Charley Kathman is a fourth grader shooting her first year in NASP and second year with the 4-H program. This year Charley competed with the elementary team in IBO 3D Challenge and placed fifth as an individual. Charley is looking forward to making a trip to Kentucky to represent Lawrence-Nelson Public Schools.
