SHS boys and girls track take second at own invite

Atlee Kobza, Laci Kirchhoff and Halle Bargen fill three lanes of the 200 meter dash for Superior at the Superior Invite last Tuesday.

The Wildcat Community Track was the setting for the Superior Invitational high school track and field meet at Superior last Tuesday.

Teams from Hastings St. Cecilia, Lawrence-Nelson, Sandy Creek, Thayer Central and Heartland Community rounded out the field. The Superior girls team finished in second place with 230 points. The boys team held second place with 250 points.

Ella Gardner picked up one of her four first place finishes for the day with a 12.96 effort in the girls 100 meter dash. Sadie Rempel came in fifth with her time of 13.95 seconds. Sadie Cornell was in seventh place with the time of 13.97 seconds. Katie Engelhardt had a preliminary heat time of 16.15 seconds. Alicia Temes had a time of 17.51 seconds.

Gardner was first across the finish line in the 200 meter dash with her time of 26.58 seconds. Cornell was in sixth place with her time of 28.86 seconds. Halle Bargen had a time of 29.2 seconds. Laci Kirchhoff had a time of 30.17 seconds. Atlee Kobza was clocked at 31.75 seconds.

Faith Butler took fifth place in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:08.29. Rebecca Tadeo-Perez listed a time of 1:24.62 for the event.

Jada Hemmion posted a time of 7:11.52 for the 1600 meter run. Brooklyn Grabast was across the finish line in 7:13.21.

Hailey Blecha glided to a fourth place finish in the 3200 meter run with her time of 15:38.96.

Rempel landed fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 18.73 seconds. Mikynzie Hansen had a time of 19.91 seconds.

Cayce Barry was across the line for the 300 meter hurdles in 59:34 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Rempel, Bargen, Madison Heusinkvelt and Cornell nabbed second place points with their time of 54.24 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Bargen, Heusinkvelt, Kirchhoff and Butler finished in fifth place with their time of 4:41.8.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Butler, Kirchhoff, Grabast and Hemmion finished in fourth place with their time of 12:38.

Shayla Meyer finished in second place in the shot put with her toss of 37'3". Madison Heusinkvelt held third place with her toss of 35'2.5". Lily Edwards had a best toss of 29'9.25". Mia Gardenr had a toss of 28'1".

Meyer sat atop the discus field with her throw of 145'5". Heusinkvelt had a throw of 88'8". Kobza had a best throw of 83'9". M. Gardner registered a throw of 76'11". Temes had a best throw of 53'10".

Kirchhoff took second place in the high jump with the height of 4'8". Barry was in fourth place with the height of 4'2". Lilly Edwards competed but failed to record an official height.

Rempel held first place in the pole vault with her bar clearing effort of 10'. Butler was in fourth place with her height of 7'. Engelhardt topped out at 6'.

E. Gardner landed first place points in the long jump with her leap of 17'11.5". Cornell was in fifth place with her leap of 15'.5". Bargen landed a jump of 13'8.5".

Gardner led the triple jump field with her distance of 36'11". Hansen covered 26'6".

Dane Miller took second place honors in the boys 100 meter dash with his time of 11.56 seconds. Aiden Humphries was in sixth place with the time of 11.98 seconds. Clayton Morris crossed the finish line in 12.62 seconds. Luke Jameson finished the race at 13.48 seconds. Caiden Smullins was timed at 14.97 seconds.

Gavin Ekstein picked up third place points in the 200 meter dash with his time of 23.89 seconds. Jacob Meyer was in fifth place with his time of 24.97 seconds. Dylan Edwards posted a time of 28.75 seconds. Thomas Mathis listed a time of 29.37 seconds. Owen Perrie turned in a time of 31.27 seconds for the event.

Miller crossed the finish line of the 400 meter dash in first place with his time of 51.86 seconds. Ekstein followed in second place with the time of 53.1 seconds. Meyer was in eighth place with a time of 58.25 seconds. Tanner Theis had a time of 1:01.35.

Brett Miller brought home third place points in the 800 run with his time of 2:19.01. Theis was in fifth place with the time of 2:22.21.

Miller finished in sixth place in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:23.62. Hunter Mazzulla took seventh place with the time of 5:27.31. Derek Kirchhoff had a time of a 6:37.58.

Mazzulla was the third place finisher in the 3200 meter run with his time of 11:33.92.

Miller picked up first place points in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 11:33.92 seconds.

Miller added first place points in the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 41.14 seconds. Aiden Humphries held down third place with his time of 46.78 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay time of Meyer, Ekstein, Humphries and Miller registered a first place finish with their time of 46.48 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Theis, Mazzulla, B. Miller and Humphries came in fifth with their time of 4:06.1.

Seth Schnakenberg was in first place in the shot put with his toss of 48'4". Payton Christiancy took home fourth place with his toss of 44'5". Jameson had a best toss of 39'10.5". Henry Griljava had a best toss of 33'6.5". Christian Osweiler had a toss of 28'9".

Schnakenberg sat atop the discus filed with his throw of 155'4". Christiancy was in second place with his throw of 139". Jameson had a throw of 101'7". Griljava recorded a throw of 76'

7". Osweiler had a throw of 72'.

Morris picked up first place in the pole vault with a height of 12'6".

Ekstein was in fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 18'9.5" Perrie listed a leap of 14'3.75". Mathis had a jump of 12'8.5". Smullins had a 12'6.25 effort.

Meyer landed third place in the triple jump covering 39'.5". D. Edwards covered 32.5.5".

The Wildcat teams will compete at the Southern Nebraska Conference meet being held at Fairbury High School Saturday. The meet gets underway at 9 a.m.
