Lyle Flinn

 

Lyle Lindon Flinn, 94, Mankato resident, died April 30, 2022, at Jewell County Hospital. He was born on Dec. 13, 1927, in Allen Township to Lloyd and Esther (Willmeth) Flinn.

Lyle graduated from Randall High School in 1945 and went back to the family farm to begin his lifelong career in farming.

Lyle married Nella Rose Knarr on Nov. 27, 1949, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jewell. They started their married life on the farm south of Randall where they lived until moving to Beloit in 1987. Lyle continued helping with the farm operation until his health would not allow.

Lyle served in the Army from January of 1954 until January of 1956 when he was honorably discharged.

He is survived by his children: Rex (Brenda) Flinn of Mankato, and Max (Susan) Flinn of Jewell; grandchildren: Cody Flinn (Nikki) of Lincoln, Kan., Wyatt Flinn of Courtland, and Samuel Flinn of Mankato; two great-grandchildren: Keynan and Kyndal of Lincoln, Kan.; and one sister-in-law: Gena Johnson of Salina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nella Rose; his parents; brother, Milfred; sister, Reita; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation was from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell.

His funeral was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Jewell.

Burial followed the services at Wallace Cemetery, Jewell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Beloit First United Methodist Church in Beloit, Kan., the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kan., or the Randall Community Center, Randall, Kan.
