Truck overturns, claims life of Jewell graduate

A former Jewell County resident who returned home to help with harvest, lost her life in a motor vehicle accident last Thursday.

Vickie Vetter Fenner of Conway, Arkansas was the driver of a semi-truck which overturned about 4 p.m. Thurday.  The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. on K-28 northwest of Jamestown in Cloud County, Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol report said Vickie Fenner was heading east when the semi-truck she was driving overturned on a 90-degree southbound curve. The rig came to rest on its top. The semi was pulling a grain trailer.  The patrol’s on-line crash log states the driver was wearing a seat belt.

Vickie was the first born of the late Clifford and Nevada Vetter. She married her high school sweetheart, Scott Fenner, on May 26, 1974.  Additional details about her and her funeral arrangements are included in this week’s Jewell news report.
