SHS Homecoming parade, coronation, game Friday

September arrived today and it is already homecoming week at Superior High School. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a warm late summer evening as the school's students and alumni gather at Brodstone Memorial Field for the 7 p.m. game kick-off. The Wildcats will face a cross county rival, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley team.

There have been special activities all week at the school designed to hype the students in advance of the football contest and crowing of the royal couple.

Sunday cats paws were painted on various streets in Superior. At 1:36 p.m. Friday, a parents pep rally will be held at the school. This will be followed at 3 p.m. with a parade through the downtown. The line of march takes the parade down Central Avenue from Eighth to Fourth Street and then turns west to return to the school. It is customary for a pep rally to be held after the parade at Fourth and Central.

Monday the Homecoming Royalty candidates were announced. Their picture is printed with this story. The coronation is scheduled to take place after the game. The special week will conclude with a homecoming dance scheduled from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the school. There will be pizza and other snacks available for the dancers in the school cafeteria. The entrance doors will lock at 11 p.m.
